Everyone who has ever gotten to know me, knows that I have a fetish for footwear. Not just any footwear, but high heels. I’ve worn them since I was 12 years old. I got my first pair of kitten heels for my 12th birthday from my grandmother and I’ve been adding to my collection and adding heel height ever since. Hardly a week goes by when I don’t buy a new pair of heels. And when I travel, I have a complicated formula for bringing enough with me. The formula usually means that my pairs of heels requires a separate suitcase.

They make me feel wonderful. I love the way they look and I most especially love the stares that I get from men. Because I’ve been friends with many foot fetishists over the years, I’m conscious that with great heels, comes great responsibility. I wear heels because I like the reactions I get when I do.

When people would kid me about having a fetish for high heels, I always got a little squicked. I mean, heels didn’t turn me on. I didn’t sleep with or in them. I could go DAYS without wearing them if I had to, probably with no ill effects. But when I found the kink world, I found that I wasn’t alone. Better yet, there were a whole lot of people that either shared my fetish for wearing them, OR had a corresponding fetish for watching others wear them. Either way, it was all good to me. But still I wondered if my love of high heels was “technically” a fetish. What did fetish mean anyway?

So, to find out more about fetishes and footwear, I turned to the Kink Academy. I found a couple of videos to suit my compulsion, er..fetish. One was by Savannah Sly called called “Pros and Cons of Wearing High Heels”. I watched Savannah explain some of the warning signs for injuries, thankful that as of yet, I’ve not experienced any. I also loved how she explained the reasons why she is loves high heels, which definitely mirrors my own.

I was a bit leery of listening to Ms. Savannah talk about her mission to turn ballet flats into a must have for high heel wearers. I will admit though, that I often don’t wear high heels at all on the weekends or at night. It’s difficult to do a million errands and shop on slippery floors while wearing six inch heels. I probably won’t ever wear ballet flats, but I did take to heart Savannah’s good intentions. I figure that I’ve worn high heels for this long and have done so without damage, I’ve gotta be doing something right.

The other video I watched to learn about fetishes was by Lee Harrington called Fetishes.

At first, I was a little worried. My fascination with footwear seemed to fit EVERY definition of fetish: Shoes ARE a personal longing and desire for me; I have been accused of being a bit “crazy” about shoes, shopping for shoes, having shoe calendars, and photographs of shoes, treating them like they were my “preccccciousssesss” (picture a Golum voice); and I firmly believe that high heels are a form of totem giving me power. And I like it.

Continuing on with the video, I was personally glad that I wasn’t over the top with this fetish. I love shoes for sure, but I think that its because I’m used to wearing them, I enjoy the way they look, and as a fashion statement, they can’t be beat. When you’re as short as I am, they also give me a boost not only in height, but in feeling better. This fetish doesn’t get in the way of my life. They’re sexual talismans, sure. But I think I’ve got my fetish under control. At least until next payday.

I love my high heels. I have a fetish for high heels.

And now I can finally hold my head up and admit it.
